Modalities

I am trained in Chinese medicine, shamanic healing and Reiki and have been practicing for nearly 20 years. Reiki and shamanic healing are what I use most during my sessions with clients. I utilize these energy medicines to get a big picture perspective and to focus on the cause of the imbalance. I find that if healing can happen on a soul level, which is what both Reiki and shamanic healing allow, then the healing journey can flow with greater ease. This work is powerful on its own, and it often allows other forms of health and healing to have greater success. I see health care as a beautiful team, and medicines that work on a soul level are an important member of that team.

Although Reiki and shamanism are my primary offering, Chinese medicine informs my sessions. I am able to clearly observe and understand the shifts that happen through the physical and energetic anatomy of the body because of my Chinese medicine training.

Shamanic Healing

Shamanism is a huge topic.  It is very old and it is very diverse, practiced for thousands of years by people all over the world.  At Lightsong School of 21st Century Shamanism and Energy Medicine [Lightsong], I studied shamanism as a way of healing.  I learned how to go on a shamanic journey and connect to loving spiritual guides who assist in particular healing ways.  There are many shamanic healing tools.  Simply put, energy that is not a match for wellness is released, and energy that is a match for wellness is brought into one’s system. This work is done on a soul level; it is deep and close to the cause of the imbalance one is experiencing.  After this kind of healing, the benefits unfold over time and in a wide variety of ways.  It is fun to watch and observe the shifts and changes over many weeks and months after a session.  This style of healing is quite powerful on its own, and is also a beautiful companion to other methods of health and healing.

Chinese medicine

Chinese medicine, like shamanism, is an old and wise system of medicine.  It primarily works with the energy that flows through all things, and often understands the body through observations in the natural world.  The tools and techniques of Chinese medicine help to unblock areas in the body where energy is stagnating and to nourish areas of the body where energy is deficient.  When energy flows with balance and ease through the system, there is wellness.  The tools that I have used within this discipline of healing are Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, bodywork and qigong.

I have discovered that shamanic healing, Reiki and Chinese medicine are a beautiful combination.  Chinese medicine works a bit closer to the physical body, and can help the more spiritual healing modalities integrate with ease.  I also find that I can observe the physical and energetic shifts that take place during a session with great clarity because of my Chinese medicine training.

Reiki

Reiki is spiritual life force energy.  During a Reiki session, this vibrational energy is called in for healing.  There are many flavors of Reiki energy, each having its own symbol and purpose.  Reiki is inherently loving, and can be trusted to work in a way that is aligned with wellness.  It is not affiliated with any one spiritual path; one of Reiki’s many gifts is its welcoming, inclusive nature.

When I practice Reiki, it beautifully blends with the shamanic healing tools and techniques I have learned.  Each style of healing enhances the other, and I am so grateful for both.  It feels like a gift.
